Offaly EA Sports FAI Schools 5 A Side Final 2009

The Offaly Finals of the EA Sports FAI Schools 5 A Side competition for Primary Schools took place in Tullamore Town's Leah Victoria Park on 23rd April.

Our school took part in this FAI 5 aside tournament. Well Done to the team as they made it through to the next round.

Competing in the final of the 'A' Boy's Section were St Broghans NS, Bracknagh and Geashill NS after both teams topped their groups. St Broghans NS who reached the All Ireland Finals last year ran out 2-1 winners in the hotly contested final.

The winning teams from each group including St. Broghan's will go on to represent Offaly in the Mid Leinster Finals in Portlaoise on 29th April.

Why not look at some of the photos to see St. Broghan's in action.

LENISTER CHAMPIONS 2008

Last May the entire school travelled to Tullamore where the school played in the EA Sports FAI Schools National finals. The Bracknagh boys had previously won the competition at county level in Tullamore on April 23 before going on to victory in Mid-Leinster section in Portlaoise on April 30.

This victory was followed with further success at Leinster level in Navan on May 2 and these victories culminated in their appearance in the All- Ireland at Leah Victoria Park Tullamore last Wednesday when Bracknagh faced the might of Ulster, Munster and Connaught.

Bracknagh displayed excellent technique and skill but unfortunately were not strong enough on the day with outright victory being secured by Cloontagh N.S, Inishowen, Co. Donegal.

The Bracknagh team was as follows: Jim Hendy, Barry Sherlock, Ronan Mather, Robbie Farrell, Anthony Cunningham, Tom Galbraith, Dale Sheridan and Jack Hendy.
This was a super week for Bracknagh N.S and the children should feel very proud of their achievements.

The management Board would like to express their sincere thanks to the teachers, trainers and parents who help promote and encourage the children's participation. Football is alive and well in Bracknagh NS.
